In light of the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial, Soho House invited me to create an installation for their week-long celebration.

The piece is loosely based on The Devil in the White City, a historical non-fiction book set during the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. The book follows the story of two historical figures: Daniel Burnham, the lead architect of the World’s Fair, and H.H. Holmes, a serial killer that owned a murder hotel.

Much like that era, architectural mastery and dark urban issues still exist side by side in today’s Chicago. This parallel serves as the conceptual backbone to this projection mapping piece, which portrays Chicago through both magnificent and brooding images of its architectural cityscape as well as the two historic characters reimagined for this setting.
